Before Anesthesia

Do not eat or drink 8 (eight) hours prior to surgery, including water

You may take a sip of water with medications prescribed by your doctor (those medications you are requested to take prior to surgery)

You must bring a driver that takes you to the office and stays the entire time

Day Prior to Surgery

If you experience any health changes between your most recent visits, notify your surgeon. Please report even minor changes such as fever, sore throat, cough or cold. If you suspect that you are pregnant, notify us.

  • Drink a glass or two more than usual of water or juices. Withholding alcohol at least 2 days before surgery is recommended. Caffeine and alcohol may dehydrate you.
  • Do not smoke. People who do not smoke heal faster than people who do.

The Morning of Surgery

You must arrange for someone to drive you to the office, stay with you, and drive you home after surgery. DO NOT drive for the remainder of the day.  If you are under the age of 18, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  • Wear comfortable, short sleeve, loose fit clothing.
  • You can bathe or shower the morning of your surgery.
  • You may also brush your teeth but do not swallow water.
  • Remove all piercings.
  • Remove contact lenses.
  • Nail enhancements: Remove acrylics, wraps or polish.
